John Lewis Speaks on Distinguished Duke Law Judicial Studies Center Panel

April 26, 2018

On April 26, John Lewis was a panelist at a Distinguished Lawyers conference, “Documenting and Seeking Solutions to Mass-Tort MDL Problems,” presented by the Duke Law Judicial Studies Center and the Bolch Judicial Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. The conference – which featured six panels that identified specific mass-tort MDL problems, documented them, and discussed which remedies make the most sense: rules, legislation, official guidance, or maintaining the status quo – provided an opportunity for counsel experienced in mass tort MDLs to share their experiences with actual cases so that national policymakers can be better informed in making their decisions. John and other members of his panel explored the topic of inappropriately filed cases and bundling of filing fees. More than a dozen federal judges and close to 100 practitioners attended the conference, along with distinguished law professors from across the United States.
