SHRM Quotes Dan Messeloff on Human Capital Reporting
October 2019
On October 21, the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) quoted Dan Messeloff in an article in its Employment Law newsletter. The article focused on a new rule proposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission that would require public companies to submit reports on their “human capital” (i.e., their employees). Dan commented on investor interest in reporting requirements and a push for more-detailed disclosures.
“Several potentially important pieces of information that companies could report, which some other government agencies have already required, are pay and hiring statistics for women and minorities,” Dan commented. Dan also said that, in the course of the proposed reporting requirements, if a company reports that it has a high number of part-time, seasonal, or temporary workers, investors may conclude that the company is more volatile than another business that has a consistent number of full-time employees.
