Courtney Mendelsohn represents a diverse corporate client base in complex commercial litigation and product liability matters in federal and state courts across the United States.
Courtney particularly enjoys defending clients in class actions and multidistrict litigation (MDL) and has focused her practice in these procedural areas. She appreciates the magnitude of issues inherent in class action and MDL work and ensures she incorporates clients’ goals throughout each stage of the litigation.
Courtney regularly performs tasks across the gamut in single-case and class-action litigation, including initial case assessment and strategy; drafting pleadings, trial court briefs, and appellate briefs; managing discovery, including e-discovery; executing efficient and thorough research; taking and defending depositions; working with experts; making court appearances and arguments; and handling mediations. Throughout the course of her career, she has amassed broad experience across substantive areas including antitrust claims, business torts, consumer fraud actions, consumer protection cases, contract disputes, and credit reporting disputes, among others.
Courtney’s active pro bono practice includes representing clients at the appellate level in habeas corpus proceedings and immigration cases.
Away from her law practice, she enjoys skiing, researching and exploring residential real estate markets, and watching college football.

litigation
- Won a federal appeal affirming a successful motion to dismiss for a pharmaceutical manufacturer in a product liability action alleging permanent debilitating injury after exposure to a drug
- Defeated class certification in a series of putative class actions alleging consumer protection claims against a home-goods manufacturer for sale of failure-prone components
- Defended a global information services group in 35 distinct lawsuits, including multimillion-dollar class actions and appeals; managed all aspects of litigation and settlement, including summary judgment wins, some of which were challenged and affirmed on appeal
- Obtained summary judgment, affirmed on appeal in the Federal Circuit, for a 3D printer manufacturer on all antitrust and business tort claims
legal, regulatory, and compliance counsel
- Advised a multinational chemical company in managing and reducing more than $500 million in asbestos liability exposure and SEC reserves over a three-year engagement; worked with the client and local counsel to develop and implement defense and settlement strategy; managed various local counsel around the country
